It’s the holiday season and everyone is out shopping for gifts. Even if you are a successful rapper like Young Thug. So when the ‘Pick Up The Phone’ rapper was shopping in a mall in Atlanta, the last hing he expected was to be arrested. Police officers, who were patrolling the mall, however spotted the rapper who has an outstanding warrant for failing to appear in court. The officers placed Young Thug under arrest and he was taken to jail, though, the 25-year-old was later released on bail. This wouldn’t be the first time the rapper is getting into trouble at a mall. Last year, he was arrested after threatening to kill a mall security guard.

Despite his huge success in 2016, Panacrooner Tekno who got a nomination in the‘next rated’ category at the 2016 Headies awards has been disqualified from the awards. Organizers say Tekno’s nomination was withdrawn after he failed to participate in any of the pre-award activities including photo shoots and interviews. Recall that Tekno had earlier called out The Headies saying he was nominated in the wrong category. His disqualification leaves Aramide, Humblesmith, Mr Eazi and Ycee as contenders in that category.

Over 25,000 Ugandans had paid for tickets in anticipation of Africa’s biggest musician of 2016. Wizkid who’s presently tending to health issues in US, and his manager Sunday Are have been issued an arrest warrant, to be produced in court on or before January 16, 2017. Nigerian pop star Wizkid has been issued an arrest warrant for cancelling his Uganda concert recently. Harrysong was signed to KCEE’s brother, E-Money’s Five Star Music label where he released his biggest song till date, Reggae Blues. Also known as a writer and singer, Mr Songs left the label unceremoniously and threw shot, that most people believe was directed at his former label mate, KCee. “Doing all these for everyone – both Five Star and outside the platform – is not a problem for me. Sometimes it bothers me that we are beating farther than it is. What bothers me is not the work. What bothers me is the appreciation. Hello to Kiss Daniel fans! This will be great news for you. Kiss Daniel’s Mama tops the list of the most searched Nigerian songs of 2016. This according to Google’s yearly trend overview which charts the most searched items of the year according to categories. Kiss Daniel’s Mama hits the number one spot, and his other 2016 hit Jombo is the 3rd most searched song of 2016. The only other artist with 2 songs on the list is Olamide with Who You Epp at number 4, and Abule Sowo at number 10. Falz, P-Square, Wizkid, and Adekunle Gold also make claim to google fame at numbers 6, 7, 8 and 9 respectively. Although by many accounts it’s been a relatively dull year for Nigerian music, there has been a sizable amount of hit records this year, and plenty of music to rock to going into 2017. Nollywood actress, Ini Edo has made it known that the forthcoming Akwa Ibom Heritage Festival has been postponed. This came as a result of the recent tragic event that occurred at Reigners Bible Church tragedy that claimed the lives of not less than 100 people. The IbomFest was postponed in order to mourn and honour the victims of the Reigners Bible Church tragedy. According to the press statement endorsed by Ekerete Udoh, the Senior Special Assistant (Media) and Chief Press Secretary to the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State reads, This is to inform the general public that the Akwa Ibom Heritage Festival earlier organised to showcase the rich cultural heritage of Akwa Ibom state has been postponed. This is to honour the casualties arising from the tragic building collapse of the Reigners Bible Church International which has thrown the state into mourning . Anew date for the festival will be made public. Let’s continue to pray for the casualties in the accident.
