The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has withdrawn the 2016 admission list it forwarded to different Nigerian Universities. This was disclosed in a statement by the body's spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin released today July 31st. Part of the statement reads  “This is to ensure that the University Senate perform its statutory responsibility of conducting the selection of candidates and refer it to JAMB for confirmation in line with the admission criteria of merit, catchment and educationally disadvantaged states as directed by the Hon Minister of Education at the policy committee meeting,” The earlier list was sent to help fast track the process of admission so as to allow other tiers of institutions also conduct their admission. The Federal Government has promised to generate 6, 000 megawatts by December 2016 based on the measures put in place to achieve maximal supply of electricity to consumers in the country. The Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) has indefinitely suspended four students of the institution arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged N16 million internet fraud. The EFCC arrested five suspects – four from FUTA and one from Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba, (AAUA), on Monday. The suspects were arrested at an Off- Campus residence located at Anuoluwapo Close, Stateline Hotel Road, off FUTA South Gate, Akure, Ondo. A statement issued by the Head, Information and Protocol Unit of FUTA, Mr. Adegbenro Adebanjo, said the Vice Chancellor of the university approved the sanction. Deputy Senate Leader, Senator Bala Ibn Na’Allah, on Tuesday took on former President Olusegun Obasanjo, over his sweeping statement that all members of the National Assembly were corrupt. The menace these Ijaw militants attacking parts of Lagos and Ogun states are constituting is getting out of hand. Reports have it that two landlords were abducted and three women r*ped in a renewed onslaught by some gunmen identified as Ijaw Boys, on residents of Ibafo, between Lagos and Ogun. The militants attacked Gideon village, Oke Cele, Asiwaju communities in Ibafo, unleashing mayhem on residents and carting away valuables. They were said to have invaded homes, r*ped married women in front of their helpless husbands. The militants reportedly burgled at least three houses and carted away goods in Oke Cele. Resident said, “You know there is an oil pipeline in Ibafo so the Ijaw boys came for it for bunkering/vandalisation purposes but some officers were there and because they couldnt vandalize it, they started kidnapping and raping people…” Residents in the area are reportedly living in fear. According to Punch, Johnson was reported to have performed an illegal act of the woman identified as Barakat, knowing fully well that he had to formal training as a medical doctor. The state Commissioner of Police, Leye Oyebade said Johnson lured Barakat to abort a 5-month-old pregnancy which resulted in serious complications.
