China's Communist party has reportedly banned singer Lady Gaga from the country after she posted  a 19 minute video of her meeting Dalai Lama to discuss yoga and ponder on issues such as meditation, mental health and humanity detoxification. Following Lady Gaga’s meeting with him, the Communist party’s mysterious propaganda department issued “an important instruction” banning her entire repertoire from mainland China, Hong Kong’s pro-democracy newspaper Apple Daily reported on Monday. The video of the meeting sparked an angry reaction from Beijing, which has attacked the spiritual leader as a “wolf in monk’s robes”. Dalai Lama, who fled into exile in March 1959, insists he is merely seeking greater autonomy from Chinese rule for Tibetans. On May 3, 2016 it was reported that Nigerian dancehall singer Ketchup was in coma after he suffered a nasty fall on top of a fly board in Dubai. For two days the singer was in a coma and several singers back home in Nigeria were praying for him to regain consciousness. Fortunately Ketchup came out of the coma the next day. The Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu has directed all tertiary institutions that have conducted post-UTME examination for the 2016/2017 academic session to immediately refund the money or face sanctions. Malam Adamu Adamu made this position known on Monday, in a press statement issued by Deputy Director Press and Public Relations, Ben Bem Goong. The statement reiterated the Ministry’s position that post-UTME examinations have been cancelled with immediate effect and no institution should conduct such examinations. It noted that students who have already been offered admission by JAMB may be screened by the institutions but this must not involve the conduct of any other entry examination. The minister also stressed that it is unnecessary to subject students to further examinations when they have been offered examinations by JAMB since they will still have to go through between eight or 12-semester examinations throughout their four to six years study in t...

The Vice Chancellor of the university of Lagos in an interview with news men has stated that the University of Lagos is yet to announce any procedure for screening of candidates in the 2016/2017 session as the university is waiting for guidelines from the government. According to him,”We are yet to conclude because government has asked us to stay action and wait for a guideline before deciding on the mode of screening, but definitely there will be screening,” he said. He urged UNILAG prospective students to regularly visit the website for updates. Commenting on the admission exercise for 2016/2017, the Deputy Registrar, Information Unit, Mr Toyin Adebule, told bewsmen that during the 2016 UTME registration, no fewer than 60,000 candidates applied for admission in UNILAG, which can accommodate only a little over 7,000.

The EFCC on Monday, June 27, 2016, arraigned one Pastor Moses Oluwapelumi Iduye before Justice M. O Ishola of the Oyo State High court sitting at Ibadan on a 10 count charge bordering on obtaining by false pretence, forgery and uttering of document. Moses ordeal followed a petition alleging that he collected over N1.2 million from one Adeyemi Ronke Bola under the pretence that he would help her secure traveling documents, but later gave her fake airline ticket and visa. When the charges were read out to Moses, he pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against him. Justice Ishola, haven listened to both counsels opposed the oral bail application and asked counsel to the defendant to file formal bail application. He, thereafter, adjourned the case to 12th of July for mention and ordered that the defendant be remanded in prison custody.

Nollywood actress, Uche Jumbo has opened up on if she ever considered bleaching her skin as is usual in the Nigerian movie industry. According to her, she has never considered such because of how difficult it can be with her skin colour. “No I have never considered such. I can never do such because I know how hard I fought to be where I am with my skin colour. Do you know how hard it was for dark skinned actresses to play lead role during the early stages of Nollywood? Then when we have now started playing lead role, I would go and bleach? Ozokwor was ministering to a congregation at St. Peter’s Anglican Church, Alaba where she spoke about her life and her personal encounter with Jesus Christ. Nigerian dancehall singer, Burna Boy, has taken a shot at Nigerian bloggers, referring to them as dummies in connection to reports on his baby mama saga. This was contained in an Instagram post on Friday, June 24, 2016. According to the singer, the bloggers who reported the story of his alleged baby mama, Uju Stella , played themselves by not confirming if the story was true. The post also included what looked like a pregnancy result posted from the account of Stella. Another comment in the Instagram screenshot, saw a post by Instablo9ja , confirming that Stella had lied about the pregnancy.
