‘Nigeria’s Economy Will Be Better In 2017’- Lawmakers Promise Nigerians

A Lagos lawmaker, Mr Segun Olulade, says he is optimistic of a burgeoning economy early 2017 just as President Muhammadu Buhari had assured Nigerians of an end to economic contraction in the new year.

Olulade, the Chairman, Lagos State House of Assembly Committee on Health Services, said in line with God’s plan through His various prophets, 2017 would usher in a period of economic buoyancy and new lease of life for the country.

“The current economic downturn in the country no doubts is biting hard, but I believe that as we transit to the new year and with what the administration has so far put in place the country will witness a turnaround,” he told the News Agency of Nigeria on Saturday.

According to him, the country will move out of the current recession into economic prosperity for the good of all.

Olulade (APC-Epe II) urged Nigerians to approach the new year with hope and excitement for national prosperity and new lease of life for all.

Dele Momodu Gives 7 Shocking Prophecies For 2017 [Read Here]

Dele Momodu, a Nigerian journalis, businessman, philanthropist, actor and motivational speaker, has released a festive message on Christmas day, where he expressed his view on the future of Nigeria and made some prophecies.

1. My prediction is that Nigeria is not going to witness any substantial change in the near future.

2. I predict with the greatest sense of responsibility that barring any major development, especially age and health reasons, President Buhari will contest the next presidential election.

3.3. If the Nigerian economy continues to nosedive along this present freefall path, Buhari is likely to face stiff opposition from within his own political party and from outside.

4. Buhari will continue to hold sway in APC and his challengers would have to find somewhere else to try their luck.

Buhari would try to unleash terror on such recalcitrant fellows and whip them back into line.

5. Next, I predict the emergence of a third force. APC elements would combine with PDP factions and form a new party.

6. Strange as it may seem after what has gone before, the number one contender against President Buhari is the immediate past President, Dr Goodluck Jonathan, mark my word.

7. A member of the ruling APC party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, and Mallam Nasir El-Rufai may compete for the president’s post if Buhari decides not to run.

US Rapper Young Thug Arrested While Shopping For Christmas

It’s the holiday season and everyone is out shopping for gifts. Even if you are a successful rapper like Young Thug.

So when the ‘Pick Up The Phone’ rapper was shopping in a mall in Atlanta, the last hing he expected was to be arrested.

Police officers, who were patrolling the mall, however spotted the rapper who has an outstanding warrant for failing to appear in court.

The officers placed Young Thug under arrest and he was taken to jail, though, the 25-year-old was later released on bail.

This wouldn’t be the first time the rapper is getting into trouble at a mall. Last year, he was arrested after threatening to kill a mall security guard.

Christmas: Buhari Approves N72billion For Salaries (see chart)

President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday approved additional N71.8 billion to augment shortfall in the 2016 budgetary allocation for payment of delayed workers salaries, Daily Trust gathered.

This will enable the government pay thousands of workers who are owed November and December salaries.

The amount is part of the N213 billion virement assented to by Buhari yesterday, Daily Trust has learnt.

Sources had initially told Daily Trust that the president had withheld assent because the National Assembly increased the budget by N33billion, but he was persuaded to sign the virement to enable some agencies pay workers salaries before Christmas.

The Minister of Finance Kemi Adeosun had explained inability of some government agencies to pay November salaries saying the shortfall is to be augmented through the virement.

She told State House reporters after cabinet meeting on Wednesday that “What we did in the virement we sent to the National Assembly, which the National Assembly approved, was that we listed all the agencies that had problems with their salaries and applied to National Assembly.

We had to go back to the National Assembly to ask for an increase in the budgetary allocation of those agencies.”

The president sent the virement proposal of N180.8 billion to the National Assembly on October 26, 2016, requesting the approval for the N166.6billion for special intervention (recurrent) and N14.2 billion for special intervention (Capital Supplementation).

Several government agencies could not pay November salaries including the Federal Roads Safety Commission (FRSC). Adeosun said “All the agencies have an allocated IPPIS which is the salary platform. If for example an agency has a N12bn salary for the year, we insist they continue to pay until that N12bn is exhausted.

“Instead of taking N1bn a month, such agencies were taking N1.2bn or N1.3bn. So, by the time it got to October, many agencies had exhausted their allocations.

The approved virement provides N71.8billion for settlement of the Public Service Wage Adjustment (PSWA). Other provisions are: Contingency N1.2billion; margin for increase in cost (MIC) N2billion; cadet feeding (Police Academy, Kano) N932million and Amnesty Programme N35billion.

There is also internal operation of the Armed forces N5.2billion, Operation Lafiya Dole N13.9 billion, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) N19.7billion, Foreign Missions N14.6billion and augmentation of meal subsidy/ direct teaching and laboratory cost N900million.

For statutory transfer, N1.2bilion was approved for the Public Complaints Commission.

In the area of capital, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) will get N12.7billion and Presidential Initiative for the North East (PINE) is to receive N1.5billion.

Daily Trust leant that there was little delay on the approval by the president due to the increment of about N33billion by the senate over his original request.

Analysis of the figure by Daily Trust shows that the National Assembly added N25billion for payment of local contractors and other liabilities as well as N5billion for the SDG Housing under the Federal Ministry of Power, Works and Housing. The request for foreign missions was also increased by N1.74 billion from the original request.

The explosion with its attendant fire outbreak was said to have started about 6 p.m at the gas station near the Zenith University College.Properties running into several thousands of cedis were destroyef in the incident.

The spokesperson of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) Prince Billy-Anaglatey on Thursday said...

“The fire is blazing and we are doing everything possible to quench it. The Armed Forces fire fighters are here too and doing everything possible to ensure this fire is actually extinguished".

The officers of the Ghana National Fire Service brought  three fire tenders to put the fire out but that appeared to be inadequate as the fire raged further. The personnel went for a refill and later returned to the accident scene.

Officers of the police service were also at the scene trying to control the crowd some of whom were threatening to go closer to catch a sight of the fire. The explosion led to blackout in parts of the catchment area.

Shocking! Dead man who was buried comes back to ask for his missing tongue (photo)

There was shock recently when a dead South African man, Posole Mokoena, started demanding for his missing body parts.

38-year-old Posole who was found dead and already been buried, got everyone on their toes, including his family members. According to the Daily Sun SA, the dead man keeps coming back to haunt his family members in their dreams, angrily demanding that his tongue and manhood be given back.

Posole was found dead at a dam with some of his body parts missing. He was buried two months ago, but it appears his spirit cannot find peace.

His granddad Mokete, 87, said his dead grandson from Marquard in the Free State appeared in his dreams, angry and demanding for his missing manhood. He said Posole went missing for a week in October and his decomposing body was found at a nearby dam.

His private parts were removed and his tongue was also cut off. We had to bury him like that,”Mokete said.

A herbalist, Rakauoane Mamoya said: “The granddad should order him to go to sleep. They should also perform a cleansing ceremony."

Father and son allowed to marry in USA After dating for 46years (photos)

Nino Esposito, 79, and his partner Roland Bosee, 69, were dating for 46 years.

The duo were denied to marry each other but love has no boundaries and they managed to find a loophole in the law.

As at the time of their romance same-sex marriage hadn’t yet been legalised in the US, Nino adopted his lover -- common practice among same-sex couples.

However, the duo didn't give up on their dream to get married one day. Four years later their dream came true.

A Pennsylvania Superior Court has recently ruled that the loving couple can cancel the adoption and have a wedding.

Judge Susan Peikes Gantman commented on the precedent: "Pennsylvania law regarding same sex marriage changed.

Same-sex couples in this Commonwealth may now exercise their fundamental right to marry."

Nino and Roland said they were ‘relieved’, and are grateful for the ‘wonderful Christmas gift’.

Officer Jailed For Having S*x With R*pe Victim In Toilet (Video)

A police officer has been jailed for 22 months for having s*x with a rape victim several times and in a McDonald’s toilet.

33-year-old Charlotte Peters, from Luton, was based in the Sexual Offences Exploitation and Child Abuse Command in the Metropolitan Police when she had a relationship with a young female victim she’d been assigned to help.

Judge Anthony Leonard at Southwark Crown Court, sentenced her after she previously pleaded guilty to misconduct in public office.

Prosecuting officer, Kate Bex, said Peters was in a position of trust and should have known how to deal with the ’emotional impact’ on victims of sexual assault.

The court heard that the first sexual contact which started with a kiss on February 24 at the refuge where the victim was staying developed into several sexual encounters including the final one they had in McDonald’s toilet.

EFCC arraigns suspected fraudster for N1.5m contract scam (Photo)

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arraigned one Jamilu Yunusa before Justice Yahaya Galadanci of the Kano State High Court on a seven count charge of Conspiracy and Obtaining by False Pretense.
The accused person alongside two others, Inuwa Abdu and Habibu Inuwa who are still at large allegedly connived and defrauded the complainants to the tune of N1,520,000 (One Million, Five Hundred and Twenty Thousand Naira ) by claiming that he had a contract with Dantata and Sawoe for the supply of pipes to the company. He convinced his victims by promising to share the contract profit with them. However, investigation by the EFCC revealed that the accused person never had a contract with Dantata and Sawoe.

One of the charge read “that Jamilu Yunusa, Inuwa Abdu (at large) and Habibu Inuwa (at large) sometime in 2015 in Kano within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court conspired among yourselves to do an illegal act to wit: obtaining by false pretense the sum of N200,000 (Two Hundred Thousand Naira Only) from Nuhu Abubakar through Skye Bank account belonging to Inuwa Abdu with account number 3042263847 which was done pursuance to the said agreement and thereby committed an offense contrary to section (8) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act, 2006 and punishable under Section 1(3) of the same Act”.

After listening to the charge, the accused person pleaded not guilty.

Prosecution counsel Douglas Ijah Gift asked the court for a trial date in view of the plea of the accused person.

Counsel for the defendant Amina Umar Garba applied orally that the accused person be admitted to bail.

The matter has been adjourned till January 5, 2017 for hearing of bail application. The accused person was remanded in prison custody.

15 Year Old Girl Dies Inside 'Menstruation Hut' After She was Separated From Community (Photo)

A 15 year old girl from Gajra village in western Nepal’s Achham district has died from smoke inhalation after she was separated from her community because she was menstruating and left to sleep in a menstruation hut in Nepal.

“Chhaupadi” which is the name given to the menstruation hut, is a practice in which women are banished during menstruation in Western Nepal.

During Chhaupadi, a practice that dates back hundreds of years ago, girls are kept in small huts with no doors, poor sanitation and poor ventilation and are forbidden from touching other people, livestock, fruits and plants.

According to Achham district police inspector, Badri Prasad Dhakal, 10 other girls have died in the lst 9 years from the isolation and exposure to environmental factors when left in the menstruation hut while practicing Chhaupadi.

“Deaths are usually caused by smoke inhalation, snake bites (and) lack of basic health care during menstruation,” Badri Prasad said.

Read a 2011 United Nations report on the practice below;
”Girls are not allowed to drink milk or eat milk products and their access to water taps and wells is limited.

“Some in the Far West still believe that a God or Goddess may be angered if the practice is violated, which could result in a shorter life, the death of livestock or destruction of crops,”
“It is believed by some that if a woman touches fruits, they will fall before they are ripe. If she fetches water, the well will dry up.”

‘Girls are even banned from reading, writing or touching books during menstruation so they won’t anger Saraswati, the goddess of education
